Our Team

Nancy Adimora - Founding Editor

Nancy Adimora is a pan-African Londoner and the founding editor of AFREADA. Originally from Nigeria, she started the publication with a dodgy website and an apprehensive call for submissions in 2015, and has been reading and editing stories ever since. Most recently she was the Talent and Audience Development Manager at HarperCollins Publishers, and she now runs OtherStories, a publishing consultancy and studio based between London and Lagos. She’s a certified calamari connoisseur and used to tweet at @NancAdimora, but Elon Musk ruined it, so now she’s just on LinkedIn.

Favourite book: Half of a Yellow Sun has her spirit, but Americanah has her heart.

Amanda Aboajewah Kingsley - Associate Editor

Amanda Aboajewah Kingsley is our associate editor. She is of Ghanaian and Liberian heritage and she joined AFREADA in 2020 after hearing about it at the Africa Writes literary festival in 2019. Engaging with lovers and producers of African literature is endless enjoyment for her. As associate editor, she is responsible for preparing stories for publication, and works on everything from structural edits to proofreads. She is a writer, lawyer and lover of Nollywood (classic and modern) - she shares her work on her website and talks books on her Instagram @amandaafuaaboajewah.

Favourite book: she doesn’t have a favourite, but is a sucker for class-conscious fiction, so Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga is up there.

Kimberley Nyamhondera - Contributing Editor

Kimberley Nyamhondera is a contributing editor at AFREADA, a role she stalked and talked her way into. She supports editorial projects and spends her time finding new ways to connect our writers with more readers. Kimberley has also worked on programmes helping young people break into London’s creative industries by pairing them with mentors. She is at her happiest gulping a Zambezi and eating mangoes from her grandfather’s garden in Zimbabwe, but also enjoys connecting good books with their intended audience as a Publicity Manager at Hodder & Stoughton. She can be found tweeting and liking at @kimberleynyam.

Favourite book: Freshwater left her watered, fed and nourished.

Zulaikhah Agoro - Publishing Manager

Zulaikhah Agoro is a publishing manager at AFREADA, a promotion she earned in 2023 after 7 years of consistently submitting to anything with AFREADA’s name on it. She is a writer, content creator and full-time Bollywood/K-drama addict based in Lagos, Nigeria. Her favorite topic is African storytelling and she can be found sharing her endless musings on Twitter or Instagram @yourfairygodmummy.

Favourite book: A Broken People’s Playlist made her feel all types of ways - she still hasn’t recovered.
